About this event
Football NSW sets the earliest date from which member clubs may begin trialling players for the 2027 season. For the Youth Leagues that date is Monday 28 September 2026, three weeks after the Junior Development Leagues open. Which competitions this covers: - Boys Youth Trials, for Football NSW League One, Two and Three — U13, U14, U15, U16 and U18 - Girls Youth Trials, for Football NSW Girls' Youth League One and Two — U14, U15, U16 and U18 Note the age ranges are not the same. The boys competitions start at U13; the girls competitions start at U14. Neither lists a U17 age group — players move from U16 to U18. This is a permission date, not an appointment. There is no statewide trial to attend on 28 September and nothing to register for with Football NSW. Clubs may begin running their own sessions from that Monday, and some have already published dates — South Coast Flame opens Boys Youth League trials on 28 September at Ian McLennan Park and Girls Youth League trials the same evening at Illawarra Sports High School, Berkeley, while Northern Tigers has said its Boys and Girls Youth League trial period starts that day. Almost every club requires an expression of interest submitted beforehand, and session times are commonly emailed only to registered players. Many clubs have their Youth League EOI open well before the trial period starts, so it is worth registering now rather than waiting for September. One restriction worth planning around: Football NSW states that no outdoor trials or training may take place on any Saturday during September, October, November and December 2026. Exemptions apply only to 1st Grade NPL NSW Men's, FNSW League One Men's, FNSW League Two Men's, NPL NSW Women's and FNSW League One Women's teams. Expect Sundays and weeknights.
Who it suits
Families of players aged roughly 12 to 18 considering a Football NSW Youth League club for 2027, who want to know when trials can start and whether to get an expression of interest in now.
Before you register
- Check your own club's trial dates — this is the earliest permitted date, not a fixture
- Confirm which age band applies: boys start at U13, girls at U14, and there is no U17
- Submit the club's expression of interest first; session times usually go only to registered players
- Expect Sundays and weeknights, as Saturdays are excluded from September to December
- Check whether the club trials Youth League separately from its JDL age groups — the dates differ by three weeks
Independent listing — Stride Football is not affiliated with Football NSW. Confirm details with the organiser before registering.
