About this event
The McDonalds St George Cup is Football St George's flagship pre-season tournament, returning in 2026 with a new 7-a-side format and a new U8 age band. The cup runs across three days at Poulton Park's all-weather field in South Hurstville: Tuesday 7 July (U8 and U9), Wednesday 8 July (U10 and U11) and Thursday 9 July (U12, U13 and U14). Mixed teams enter U8–U12, separate Girls divisions run U8–U14, and Boys-only divisions are U13 and U14. Matches are 15-minute halves with squads of 7–10 players (capped at 10). The cup is restricted to club teams playing in grassroots association competitions — JDL (Junior Development League) players and teams are not eligible. Team entry is $650 (inc. GST), with nominations closing Friday 19 June 2026.
Who it suits
Best for grassroots club teams from St George, Illawarra, North Sydney, Manly and Western Sydney associations who want a competitive pre-season tournament outside JDL territory. Suited to families in southern Sydney — Poulton Park is at South Hurstville with games running an approximate 8:30am–4:30pm school-day window.
Before you register
- Confirm your team manager nominates the team before Friday 19 June 2026 — nominations close before the holidays.
- Check that every player is grassroots-eligible — full-time JDL players are excluded.
- Confirm your squad is 7–10 players; squads larger than 10 cannot be entered.
- Check which day your child's age group plays — only U8/U9 play on day 1, U10/U11 on day 2, U12/U13/U14 on day 3.
